The charge sheeted Goa BJP Vice-President Anil Hoble must be immediately sacked as the Chairman of the State owned OBC Corporation.
The BJP while in the Opposition had demanded the resignation of politicians against whom even an F.I.R was registered. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar must now walk that talk after Anil Hoble has been charge sheeted. There cannot be double standards for those in public life.
Anil Hoble, his wife Sandhya and son Milind have been charge sheeted for very serious offences under Sections 498-A, 323, 506(ii) read with Section 34 of Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 & 4 of Dowry Prevention Act. Anil Hoble must face the trial without being able to misuse his government position to intimidate and threaten witnesses in the case against him.
In a landmark Judgment in 2014 the Supreme Court advised not to induct to public offices charge sheeted persons facing trial. The Court had observed that criminalization of politics destroyed people’s faith in democracy while observing that constitutional morality, good governance and constitutional trust expected good sense not to recommend any person with criminal charges from being appointed to government positions.
Anil Hoble was on 12th July booked by the Women Police Station for allegedly grievously assaulting and injuring his daughter-in-law and harassing her parents with persistent dowry demands. After completing the investigation the police on 10th November charge sheeted the Hobles.
