WITH ELVIS GOMES PANAJI CAN HOPE FOR A SEA OF CHANGES

Of the seven candidates in the fray for the Panaji Assembly Constituency, former bureaucrat Elvis Gomes is undoubtedly the best and brightest of the lot.

The young and dynamic Elvis Gomes who has always been very soft-spoken carries with him a rich administrative experience which would assist him in being a very able legislator representing Goa’s capital city.

Elvis Gomes who is a law graduate has, as a bureaucrat, served in various positions including being a very successful Commissioner of the Corporation of City of Panaji.  He is now the President of the Goa State Chapter of the All India Professionals’ Congress.

Elvis Gomes may have been born in Cuncolim but having lived in Panaji for over 20 years is very well versed with the intricacies and the problems the city faces and is best poised to redress them.

We now have an opportunity to elect a very clean and knowledgeable person with no criminal antecedents whatsoever who can lead the city and rescue it from the current mess and decay it has been embroiled in. A proven professional whose honesty and integrity are beyond question and whose firm hand coupled with intelligence and an unswerving dedication to good governance are qualities that people are crying out for in today’s leaders.

Let us all stand by him and make a special effort on Valentine’s Day to vote for Elvis Gomes, who has been fielded by the Indian National Congress as our best and only hope for Panaji.

His commitment to us is summed up in his own words and laid out in a people-centric Agenda. Elvis is determined to find solutions to peoples’ issues and to promote and strive for economic development, social equality and environmental responsibility and invites the people of Panaji and Goa to work together for shared prosperity. He places special emphasis on employment for our youth and care for our senior citizens and those in need. A far cry from some candidates and MLAs who have proven to work only towards personal betterment rather than for the common good. It is only a clean smart leader like Elvis Gomes that can truly create a clean smart city.

John Lewis, the late American civil rights activist had said “the vote is precious. It is the most powerful non-violent tool we have in a democratic society, and we must use it.’’

And in the words of Taylor Swift, singer song-writer “It’s not enough to just want change…you have to go and make change by voting’’
