Our Ribandar’s Principal Gurunath Shetye was a great educationist and a refined human being par excellence. As founder Principal of Ribandar’s Bal Bharati Vidyamandir, the very humane Gurunath Shetye tirelessly built the institution from scratch transforming it into a great centre of learning. He also worked hard to ensure that after his retirement the school was in good and safe hands before passing the school to a professionally managed educational body.
All through his life till his death in 2018 at the age of 95, Principal Gurunath Shetye lived a very simple and so very humble life always working selflessly in rendering service to the community. So extremely modest he was. He was extremely generous donating his own prime land and many personal financial sacrifices to build the school for the benefit of us all.
It is very disheartening that the Government has not given adequate recognition to this great and very unassuming man. Let us hope that the authorities will now act swiftly in ensuring what has been long overdue to our so dear Principal Gurunath Shetye.
We as his students hope that at least now justice will be done to the great man that he was. A selfless soul committed to enhance the educational levels and standards he always was. He treated every student alike and always found the time to care for all his students.
Let us strive to ensure that our very great and outstanding Principal Gurunath Shetye gets that due recognition for his selfless contribution to the educational arena in Goa.
