Over the years the people of Goa had to endure utter nightmare at the Passport office. It was an everyday chaos and confusion. All this changed with the appointment of a Goa Civil Service Officer Agnelo Fernandes as the Passport Officer. To his credit Agnelo Fernandes speedily streamlined the working of the entire passport office to the satisfaction of one and all.
Surprisingly now the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has Suo Motu started a probe against Agnelo Fernandes. Suo Motu probes by the CBI are unheard of. How many such probes have they done? If Agnelo Fernandes has done something really wrong he should be punished. But if this is a part of the witch hunt being unleashed by the saffron brigade then it needs to be strongly deprecated.
One of the allegations against Agnelo Fernandes is that a hundred bottles of foreign liquor were found at his residence. So what. Every Goan politician must have much more stored down their cellar. The Government needs to come clear on what it means by Zero Tolerance to Corruption. There cannot be double standards.
On one side you target Agnelo Fernandes and on the other you allow alleged grossly corrupt officers to head vital departments. An example is the very saffronised Arun Desai who despite all the serious Vigilance probes pending against him continues as Director of Transport for the last over five years. He is at the helm of a department with multi channels and wide avenues for fueling corruption. To add to it the BJP government is elevating him to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The very affable and gregarious Agnelo Fernandes has been a very accessible and extremely cordial officer who has always ready to help one and all. May truth and Justice prevail.
What else can you expect from this govt. Which is run by RSS FANATICS? Well Mr .Aires if goans can remember properly was’nt you one of the guys who wanted a change from corrupt Congress party.?

He was doing a great job at the passport office but obviously did something to anger the buffoons (read as MLA/Ministers) in the Govt. And this is their way “to cut him down to size” – ask me; I know this stuff I used to be in the Govt and they tried it with me too.
Glad to be out of it all now. And doing what I want and more importantly – how I want!
They love the dis-honest guys coz they have them in control. It’s the honest ones that rile them!

it was so simple,,, just give ur all documents and take ur passport.no extra money paid anywher
this is what we want,,,, wish character like agnelo were all over the place,,
one honest and upright Goan Officer cut down. End of the day some unscrupulous elements were loosing huge revenues with his presence and CBI is brought in to collect his liquor bottles…………… how more pathetic can it get

It is our mentality which counts. People used to wait for weeks to have a word with Passport Officer and he used to rudely throw them away. A change was needed and Passport Office got it in the shape of Agnelo Fernandes. He started helping, months delay turned into weeks, weeks turned into days and days turned into same day disposal. But greedy as we are. When we are given an opportunity for same day disposal, we demand why later why not NOW and when it is not possible, then the Officer is termed as a devil. Well check the appreciation he gets every day from people of all nook and corners.
Jealous people can create hindrance but they cannot stop the development. And I do not understand the RSS or saffronisation into this probe as people from all walk of life has been helped by him including the so called saffron brigade. There is something fishy some where and only time will tell.
Keep the good work Mr. Agnel Fernandes, who turned a defunct department to a reverberating institution.
These guys do not need an excuse any more.They are so drunk with power,that they cannot abide anybody,other than those from their own Mafia clan,to be in any position of power.

We all know that the Passport Office in Goa under Agnelo Fernandes was working very smoothly. My recent experience there was wonderful, wherein a change of address happened in 48 hours!! But our government wants all corrupt men there & everywhere. ‘Acche Din’ is here for us, for all those who wanted a change.
It’s political vendetta I believe. A gentleman who radically changed the system in Passport Office has been victimized in a manner a criminal or corrupt officer is charged. He may have flawed some where but his Ministry can reprimand him but not in such a manner. Justice will prevail.
Jusitce? Well the judiciary cannot return his image ruined by the media and the persons who were helped by him. They all yuck.
About two passports, I always thought CBI would know that once you renew your passport, the old passport is cancelled and returned. Hence in Goa frequent travellers have even 4 passports in their possession. Crime? Yah u should know that we used to believe that if a leaper is touched you would get infected unless Gandhiji corrected us. Alas he would not have, then, just then we would have realised the unresponsible raids and selective defamatory revelations.
Examine the motivation says the teaching at the IPS Training Academy to its trainees!Who will benefit by needlessly dragging the Regional Passport Officer in the muck? Will it benefit the No 2 /3/4 in the Passport Dept .who is related to a BJP hotshit? Or is it the guys who cant make a buck due to Agnelo cleaning the system?
