Robin Hood Babush Monserrate has been controlling the Corporation of the City of Panaji for over 15 long years. As the election for the post of Mayor and Deputy is held annually, Babush Monseratte has been rotating these posts amongst the Councilors. With the election of the Mayor due later this month it will have to be seen whether Babush Monserrate now retains his son Rohit in the Mayor’s saddle as part of his family Raj mission and ambition.
Panaji has been in the dumps with Babush Monserrate having failed over the years to deliver on any of his promises. Even the roads and more particularly the footpaths are in a terrible state, much to the detriment of our Senior Citizens. Our only saving grace is that Panaji has dedicated sweepers and very hardworking municipal workers who have been trying their best to keep our capital city clean.
The people of a once beautiful capital city of Goa, regarded as the pearl of the Orient deserve far better than these poor quality leaders with a history of broken promises, unbelievable personal development and zero integrity but unending corruption. Good governance with transparency and accountability from leaders with integrity, vision and understanding of sustainable people centric development is the minimum that people expect.
