IT’S FACTUALLY A CODE OF GROSS MISCONDUCT

The Model Code of Conduct as mandated by the Election Commission is officially in force. In view of the raging Pandemic corner meetings and political gatherings are currently strictly prohibited. Even in door to door campaigning not more than five persons can move around.

But that rule is being violated and merrily breached with the authorities conveniently turning a Nelson’s eye to the violations by the ruling BJP.

If the authorities have miserably failed to comply with this mandatory direction of the Election Commission how can we expect free and fair polls? But it comes as no surprise as the BJP has mastered the art of breaching every law possible.

The onus is on the authorities to ensure that there is no distribution of money during these elections. They need to keep a strict vigil on Babush Monserrate amongst others.

At last year’s CCP polls, Babush Monserrate splashed at least a crore each on the three Ribandar Wards. Ironically Police Inspector Brendan D’Souza who hails from our Ribandar was seen under the cover of darkness personally distributing Babush Monserrate’s envelopes of cash door to door. What a colossal disgrace.

Police Inspector Brendan de Souza from the Calangute Traffic cell has now been brought back to Panaji Traffic at the behest of his mentor Babush Monserrate.

But at these elections the voters should not spare this Inspector or any other officer acting in rank dereliction of duty. Enough is enough, as this Police Inspector Brendan de Souza who doubles up as a political henchman has lost all moral authority to be the guardian of law. It has been lawlessness all the way. Such rotten apples who act as thugs bring utter disrepute to the entire Goa Police which otherwise should be a very disciplined force. It is high time our DGP cracks the whip.
