Will our Chief Secretary and the recently appointed Director General of Police kindly
meticulously investigate and ascertain whether an Inspector of the Goa Police is having an extra marital affair with a BJP politician.
If it is true, then our accidental Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should hang his head in shame for his proven political impotency or moral ambivalence. After all, he has a duty to ensure that those who are elected and those that are paid from the public purse are expected to serve the public and to act as role models, otherwise those that legislate and those that execute the law will be seen as a laughingstock.
The fundamental role of the police is to maintain law and order and public safety without fear or favour. An illicit association of this nature clearly could lead to a conflict of interest and the ability of either party to act with integrity in any situation.
One wonders if either the Police Inspector or the Politician have forgotten their responsibilities in public office or privately.
The Police will have a lot to explain about their inaction and as to how they allow one in their ranks to breach the law and morals of their profession.
And when will that Police Inspector realise that, for breaking the law and morality for the sins of the flesh, the law enforcer is answerable not only to the society, but to Almighty God unfailingly, whatever be the professed faith.
