ANOTHER UNFAIR MOVE AGAINST THE GOA COPS

The move to penalize cops for using mobile phones for non-official calls is stretching fair-mindedness and very unjust. The constabulary have to work very long hours and are detached from their families.  If they fail to attend a call from their children, the cops could be held for violating the provisions of the Goa Children’s Act. In addition, phones are no longer a luxury but a necessity of life. We should not think of making our policemen retrograde!

The thrust of the authorities should in fact be not to have to monitor them like school kids but to prevail on the cops to use their phone judiciously and responsibly. Let us hope that our very pro-active Director General of Police Dr. Muktesh Chander will be fair to his cops and also consider giving departmental mobile phone to the Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables who currently have to use their private mobiles for official work.
