It is very dismaying but not at all surprising that the very tainted and controversial Goa’s former Director of Transport Arun Desai has been rewarded with an elevation to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre. The BJP by promoting an awfully soiled officer has acted contrary to it’s so called much publicized mantra of Zero Tolerance to Corruption.
Arun Desai, the mastermind in the recent infamous RTO bribery case is no novice to Corruption. As Secretary to Manohar Parrikar in 2000 during his first tenure as Chief Minister of Goa, Arun Desai was known for it all. Amongst other cases he is already under the scanner of the Vigilance department in the alleged job recruitment scam of 33 Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors. In Arun Desai the IAS has now in its ranks an officer who has so well excelled and distinguished himself in the art and finesse of Corruption.
