Panaji MLA Babush Monserrate has fed us all with fake and false promises. Even that promised 30 bedded full-fledged Ribandar Health Centre has ended up as a total sham.
In May 2019 during that Panaji by-election Babush Monserrate had promised the people of Panaji that the Casinos would be moved out of the River Mandovi within 100 days. But as expected made a U-turn after the Casinos agreed to house their guests at his two Hotels ‘Varando-do-Mar’ and ‘The Crescent ‘ along the Miramar-Dona Paula road. That both these hotels are totally illegal and in gross breach of law is another issue.
While in the Opposition the BJP had vociferously branded Casinos as a “social evil” and had called them “dens of vice” while vowing to make sure that all Casinos were thrown out of Goa if the BJP came to power. But in a dramatic U turn in March 2012 after coming to power, the BJP has gone all out to promote, shield and in fact increase the Casinos trade in the name of promoting Tourism.
Ironically the RSS which sets and gears the agenda for the BJP is known to be against gambling but their silence on Casinos is deafening. The BJP and now Babush Monserrate have fallen passionately in love with the Casino brigade who are now getting government’s abundant patronage and overwhelming support. For the dismal number of jobs created for Goans by Casinos, the overall damage that is being inflicted to the State is irreversible. While the BJP is feasting and making merry with the abundant moolah flowing from the Casinos, Goa has sadly become the country’s Gambling hub with the allied vices of Prostitution and the Narcotics trade also flourishing by the day while the Crime rate is on a steep rise. A once tranquil Goa is today a very unsafe destination.
Babush Monserrate and the BJP should be shown their political graveyard at the ensuing Assembly elections.
