Finally the long wait is over. We will know today who could be governing the State for the next five years. Even if it’s not a clear mandate a coalition government will be cobbled and in place.
We will know how the people’s Court has responded to those 12 political prostitutes who in 2019 chose for their vested interests to breach the people’s mandate and stray into the corridors of Power.
It will be seen how the voters dealt with the arrogance of the power hungry and intoxicated candidates. A day of surprises is expected and hopefully none of the candidates land in hospital with cardiac issues.
People’s power will ensure that the elected respect the people’s mandate and will deter them from daring to venture into defection.
After having suffered so much and for so long, we can only now hope that Goa will see better days with a government that is very transparent and free of corruption. But to ensure this we the citizens will have to be alert, vigilant and watchful to ensure that those in Power do not go astray from what was promised to the voters. And from those in the Opposition a constructive role is expected whilst they keep a forceful check on the government.
It is to be hoped that it will be a day when the Governor does not deviate from acting as an agent of the ruling party but discharges his role strictly within the provisions of the Constitution in ensuring that government formation is free and fair.
