CM PRAMOD SAWANT MUST WALK THE TALK!

Wasn’t it amusing to hear Goa’s ‘accidental’ Chief Minister Pramod Sawant  expressing his deep concern about something that we all already know, that over 50 per cent of our graduates are sitting idle at home looking for a job.

What Pramod Sawant needs to enlighten us is on what he has done as Chief Minister to remedy this sorry state of affairs that Goa is grappling with and why he in particular has failed to Walk the Talk!

The current government has failed the people of the State on account of its lack of vision and truthful commitment to serve the people in fulfilling their aspirations.

Before Assembly elections, candidates who now see politics as an investment rather than a vocation to serve the common good, always make a plethora of rash promises knowing full well that they have no intention of honoring.  Tragically, the worst such promise that always adversely affects our dedicated and educated current and future generations is the promise of a secure job in Government or elsewhere.

The lack of proper investment in our state’s infrastructure especially our roads and decent healthcare and incentives for potential investors to boost economic activity in a state free of corruption and bureaucratic pitfalls, has made the jobs market a nightmare. Even when those limited places become available, the opportunities are rarely given to those deserving candidates based on merit. Instead, other factors like greasing of the palm and who you know rather than what you know becomes the overriding selection criteria.

A way out of this current nightmare may be to ensure that at the ensuing Assembly elections, more that 50% of the current MLAs are shown the door and made to sit at home for having taken us for a ride with false and fake assurances.

This Government will and must be judged on its actions and failed promises, not simply on its empty words. It has a bounden duty to defend, protect and provide for its citizens. It must create the economic environment with zero tolerance to corruption and cronyism to create jobs and boost the living standards of the people.
