IN THE CURRENT SCENARIO HEALTH CARE HAS TO BE THE ONLY PRIORITY

The Goa Government should focus on the much needed upgrading of the Health care facilities across the State. The very ill thought decision not to restore full fledged medical facilities at the Old Ribandar Hospital is a missed opportunity that the authorities will regret.

It should be the endeavor of the government to ensure that most medical facilities are decentralized and made available at the Taluka level so that every patient does not have to travel all the way to the District Hospitals or the Goa Medical College which is already so very over burdened. The public is entitled to quality medical care and this may happen only when Ministers and MLAs are made to take treatment only at Government hospitals and health centers.

Unfortunately the Government’s priorities are clearly misplaced. While people are still so very worried and anxious about their very survival with a matter of life and death scenario caused by this current pandemic, the government seems to be more concerned  on needless issues like the skewed cosmetic exercise of interfering in people’s marital future under the guise of arresting the increasing number of divorce cases.

People would rather expect that the Government carried out its duty of protecting its citizens with better health and medical services besides supporting their financial well being in these critical times.

This Government would be well advised to remove the log from its own eye before trying to remove the speck from other peoples’ eyes.
