OBJECTIONABLE APPOINTMENT OF N.D.AGARWAL AS ADVISOR OF PRINTING PRESS

Minister for Printing & Stationery Rohan Khaunte has brazenly appointed the 70 year old Mr. N.D. Agarwal as Advisor in the Printing & Stationery department on a monthly salary of Rs 50,000/-. The appointment of N.D.Agarwal as Advisor is in total violation and breach of the established rules and norms with Minister Khaunte having done this needless appointment with vested motives.

This appointment of Agarwal for an initial six months has been done on a skewed excuse that he would streamline timely publication of the Acts and Rules.  As per the Rules of Business of the Goa Government,  this task has been solely assigned to the Department of Law and Judiciary and not the Department of Printing and Stationery as wrongly claimed by Minister Rohan Khaunte.

The Goa Government as a matter of Rule should ensure that there is a total ban on any extensions in service and contract appointments to the retired as every such extension and appointment is a cruel joke and a grave injustice to the Youth while it is also a severe prejudice to those unemployed aspiring to join the government service and to the young officers awaiting promotion.

No one is indispensable and steps should be taken well in advance to replace those retiring. But there are however some officers who just will not retire as they cannot live without the habitual feasting on government perks and freebies. All good things need to come to an end and there is something known as “retired life” which many government officers unfortunately cannot come to terms with.  N.D. Agarwal must gracefully start enjoying his much overdue retirement.

There is a need to invest in our youth and give them a chance to deliver. The power, diversity, and potential of our Goan youth could energize the bureaucracy into a vibrant engine to tow Goa out of the current woods which retired officers like N.D Agarwal would be delighted to eventually witness.
