For a change, just for a change, Babush Monserrate must look into his Conscience to realise the evil of all that he has been doing.
First of all, our Panaji MLA must understand that an MLA is elected to legislate good laws and not for doling out government jobs. It is inappropriate for MLAs to even suggest or recommend names to favour candidates, since the selection for all jobs is to be done entirely by officials of the respective departments through a very transparent process and strictly on merit.
Babush Monserrate should instead be concerned about the rampant corruption at the Greater Panaji Planning and Development Authority which he heads and the Corporation of the City of Panaji which he controls through his proxy son Mayor while not forgetting the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited another den of mega corruption of which he is a Director.
We have hardly seen the Panaji MLA speak in the Legislative Assembly. Babush Monserrate may be academically very ill-equipped but many others on the same page have performed commendably well as Legislators.
Will the Panaji MLA also please look into those huge assets acquired by some of his staff very disproportionate to their known source of income? This only shows how deep the tentacles of corruption have spread.
Babush Monserrate would do well by taking a cue from those words by Abraham Lincoln “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time”.
