CASINOS CANNOT BE ABOVE THE LAW

The flourishing Casino trade in Goa is running absolutely unregulated. The appointment of that Gaming Commissioner was an utter eyewash. As there are no rules framed he is powerless. And the promised Casino policy has yet not seen the light of the day. It is no secret that the Casinos are an outlet for black money. The government should have proved its bonafides by mandatorily making every transaction at all Casinos cashless.

The authorities have been conveniently turning a Nelson’s eye at all those Casino vehicles which are illegally parked in the No Parking Zone along the Dayanand Bandodkar Marg.

While the all powerful Casino lobby rules the roost, the residents of Sao Tome ward behind Panaji Post Office in particular having been suffering for the last many years on account of the parking nightmare created by the Casinos. The situation gets worse especially on the weekends with Casino staff and customers haphazardly parking their vehicles and even urinating all over disturbing the peace and tranquility of the residents of the area.

While the authorities have miserably failed to deal with the traffic mayhem in Panaji, to add to the chaos hordes of Casino taxis are illegally parked all over the city. The law requires that the taxis be stationed at the designated taxi stands or at the residence of the owner.

Will the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police kindly look into this very appalling state of affairs.
