Goa’s Law Minister Nilesh Cabral seems to be hell bent on submitting a white paper on his proposal of mandatory pre-marriage counseling. What a wasteful exercise it will be. It would however be interesting to know which brainless mooted this dumb and senseless idea. Having surfaced with this pointless suggestion, the originator must be from a different planet.
Any proposed initiative by the government at the initial stage itself has to be well thought out with proper application of mind and preliminary consultation with the stakeholders on the implications before the issue is thrown open for a wider discussion seeking public input to ensure an appropriate decision can be reached.
It is an irony that while in this pandemic our concerted effort has to be on saving human lives, public attention is sought to be recklessly diverted on experimenting a futile way to rescue marriages.
Does the Government realize that for the common man the bigger concern is that very Black paper on Politicians in Goa who have been setting the trend by being politically married to one party and quickly divorcing to marry another party for becoming richer and richer and then divorcing again to try and become even more richer? Some have made it a habitual business ritual!
The people of Goa would expect our Law Minister to instead of being unduly concerned about rising number of divorces, to instead address the very serious disquiet of political defections and come up with a solution, that if not a cure would at least curb this growing malaise of unethical and unprincipled political defections which is rampant all through the political turf, be it at the Panchayat, Municipal or Assembly level. It is time to say that enough is enough and sanitize the system of this political rot by sending out a loud and clear message to those planning to descend on the political arena.
The 2022 Assembly elections would be an opportunity for the people of Goa to give these political prostitutes a thrashing at the EVMs and rightly dispatch them to a much deserved oblivion for blatantly betraying their voters for their personal greed under the guise of defecting for development of their constituency, a prank that has and will never fool anyone.
