Former Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik is no more. He was very modest, practical and someone who believed in delivering good governance to the poorest of the poor. A gregarious personality with a robust heart who had always been a socialist with a very secular outlook. He was indeed a good listener with a very clear mind and believed in achieving results. A very caring and considerate soul he was.
During my very pleasant and outspoken interactions with him, I could see that he was extremely concerned about the rampant corruption and administrative anarchy. The very knowledgeable and well-experienced Satya Pal Malik seemed to be a person with a mind of his own and who would not sign at the dotted line. A rubber stamp Governor he definitely was not. During his just over nine-month tenure in Goa, he endeavoured to do his best. His sudden early morning unceremonious departure from an otherwise very hospitable Goa was very unfortunate. A dark day and a great loss for our Goa it was.
May the departed Soul of Satya Pal Malik rest in eternal Peace while his values and principles continue to inspire us.
