Many Goan Priests across the world are playing a yeoman role in missionary work and community service in Parishes they are attached to. This enables the parishioners to better express themselves whilst receiving Pastoral support in our Konkani language. It is of great help to Goans settled abroad and this is how the Goan Chaplaincy in England was born.
The very charismatic Father Lucas Rodrigues from the Pilar Society who hails from Bogmalo in South Goa, has been serving the Goan Swindon Chaplaincy in the United Kingdom since 2015. He has been looking after the pastoral needs of the ever-growing number of Goans who have over the years immigrated and settled in and around South West England.
Fr. Lucas was ordained a Priest in 1996 and completed over 25 years of Priesthood, serving in various parishes. He has been a spiritual guide, mentor, counsellor to his parishioners and instrumental in conducting retreats, pilgrimages and spreading the devotion of Father Agnelo beyond the Goan Community.
May his tribe grow in bringing solace to the needy and those in distress. In Fr Lucas the spirit and zeal of a missionary priest flows. The enthusiasm and dedication is evident to the response and the mandate given by Jesus Christ himself of ‘Go out into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation’.
