A year ago I opted for Portuguese Nationality and surrendered my Indian Passport. It was one of the wisest decisions I have taken in life. A decision I will never ever regret. After acquiring Portuguese Nationality, I continue steadfastly embracing my birth land Goa and India, the country where I was born, brought up and lived all my life until last year.
Over the last over four decades raising issues in Goa against the illegalities of successive governments has not been an easy task. Truth hurts but it is only truth that always and ultimately prevails. Buddha had said that three things cannot be long hidden: the Sun, the Moon and the Truth.
The issues that I have raised in the past, have never been personal or against individuals but against the wrong doings regardless of the political party in Power. During the Congress regime I was branded as a BJP man, now the BJP may feel the reverse. But I am what I am, having from the Lower Courts to the High Court and the Supreme Court done my duty in raising a whole range of issues concerning the public at large.
After I opted for Portuguese nationality I thought the Indian Government would be happy and relieved to see me go but as expected, now the witch hunt continues on my application for an OCI card. Thankfully we have a Judiciary to ensure that the Rule of Law prevails.
