SOCIAL AWAKENING IS KEY FOR A BETTER WORLD

There is a perception that the government does not care and heed to the voice of the people. But this should not deter us from expressing our views and articulating our thoughts on issues concerning society. Despite the government being deaf and dumb, we cannot and should not remain mere spectators to the ills facing the society. After all, the Government has a fundamental duty to protect, support and serve the best interests of the people.

Debate and discussion on topics of social importance are vital for the functioning of democracy, which now our great country is ebbing away from.

While we express our views, we should respect those of others and that leads to a healthy debate maintaining decorum which strengthens the will of the people.  In all that we say and do we need to be fearless in speaking out truly and truthfully. In a democracy where the rule of law is paramount, no one and nothing should ever intimidate us from expressing our views for the betterment of own lives and society at large.

By speaking out publicly it also helps create public awareness on issues affecting the society. We need to encourage the youth in particular with this thought-provoking process so that they can analyze the issues at hand and be a force for positive change.

Martin Luther King Jr was spot on with his words ‘A man dies when he refuses to stand up for that which is right. A man dies when he refuses to stand up for justice. A man dies when he refuses to take a stand for that which is true’.
