The Goa State Industries Association has very rightly appealed to Pramod Sawant to select his pack of Ministers strictly on Merit. Ministers with competence and integrity would go a long way towards ensuring the much needed Transparency in Governance and Zero Tolerance to Corruption which the Pramod Sawant has already vowed by.
After all that loud talk about Women Empowerment it will be a travesty if on 28th March no lady is inducted and Goa ends up with an all male cabinet.
Pramod Sawant should also demonstrate true respect to the Supreme Court judgment by not inducting into his cabinet MLAs with serious criminal cases pending against them. It would be gracious if Pramod Sawant ensures that as a healthy convention the post of Deputy Speaker is conceded to the Opposition.
The BJP should not presume that it can be above the law. We will not forget 1st July 2017 when for the first time ever in the history of our country, within the high security precincts of an airport, the BJP held a public meeting addressed by then party President Amit Shah inside the Dabolim Airport. On this issue, I was constrained to move the High Court after which an apology was tendered with an undertaking never to repeat such an act again.
