I was so eagerly looking forward to attend the State Lawyer’s Conference 2020 being organized by the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa in association with the Nashik Bar Association on February 15 & 16 at the District Court compound in Nashik.
But have decided to skip the event after seeing that in the itinerary of that two day conference, Goa’s very notorious Atmaram Nadkarni would be one of the Speakers at one of the working sessions on “Marching Towards Speedy Modern Judiciary”. Infact the whole world including the blind know that the only topic that Atmaram Nadkarni is qualified to speak on is “Rising Speedily from Rags to Riches in the Legal Profession”.
We as advocates should be ashamed that Goa’s now known legal dacoit has been invited to speak at such an important Lawyer’s conference after being a very wrong and deceitful role model to our legal fraternity and for those venturing to join it. If today Goa’s State exchequer is in dire straits, Atmaram Nadkarni has a giant share of responsibility for having milked it mercilessly wherever and whenever he could by giving flawed legal opinions to the Government.
I am very sorry that I will miss out on such an important Lawyer’s Conference at Nashik but am consoled that I would not have to hear Atmaram Nadkarni deliver his usual thrash at Nashik.
Our virtual legal thug Atmaram Nadkarni is doing everything possible to lobby for an elevation as a Supreme Court Judge, but the almighty God will ensure that the darkest day in India’s Judiciary never dawns.
Legal institutions, the legal profession and law officers must always maintain the integrity of the law and must never be above the law. They must act in the best interests of the people and not be corruptly self-serving. The trust that a professional will behave with the high standard of integrity required of their profession is a fundamental public interest.
It is public knowledge that the behavior of Atmaram Nadkarni, his steep rise to riches, the erosion of his integrity as a senior law officer and allowing political interference in the judiciary has always been in question and under a cloud. He has eroded the trust of the people and the legal profession, dragging the judiciary and the legal profession backwards and into the mire.
Atmaram Nadkarni has demonstrated over the years that he is the least qualified and hence the last person who can pontificate on a march to a ‘Speedy Modern Judiciary’. Amen
