QUO-VADIS OUR GOA

The Goa government over the years has bit by bit and purposely making the much needed authorities defunct.  The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has now become totally non-functional with the term of the lone serving member AD Salkar now coming to an end. The GHRC has been headless since the Chairperson Justice PK Misra retired in March 2016 while the other member JA Keny passed away in September 2018.

Similarly the Goa State Police Complaints Authority has come to a grinding halt after the Chairman Justice RMS Khandeparkar relinquished office in April 2017.

The government has also intentionally kept the Lokayukta without providing him the necessary infrastructure including an investigative team to probe all the scams and corruption that our State in embroiled in.

It is a very sorry state of affairs that the government is frustrating the functioning of these independent authorities who are constituted to deliver justice and bring the wrong doers to book. It is a fit case for our High Court to Suo Motu step in.
