With the death of Mohan Ranade, Goa has lost a true and sincere friend.
Mohan Ranade had lived for many years in Ribandar and it was then that I was so privileged as a student to have many vivid interactions with this great and knowledgeable gentleman who always lived a very modest and simple life.
Very unassuming at all times, Mohan Ranade always spoke fearlessly. He was one of the pillars of that freedom struggle that liberated Goa in 1961.
Our fitting tribute to the great crusader Mohan Ranade would be in vowing to liberate Goa once again, this time from the current selfish, power hungry and corrupt politicians who have by their acts of omission and commission taken our once beautiful and serene Goa to the brink.
