GOA ROADS CANNOT BE LEFT PERILOUS

The Third Mandovi Bridge was hurriedly inaugurated, but the authorities have been ever so very lax over clearing the debris lying all around. At the Panaji end of the bridge the potholes are galore endangering the lives of the commuters and the vehicles bearing the brunt of that bumpy ride.

With the monsoons fast approaching, the pile up of all that huge waste lying on both sides and under the bridge could prove to be a nightmare for the commuting public.

It was incumbent on the government to ensure that the bridge was complete in all respects, especially since crores of rupees have been spent. How well the works have infact been executed we shall soon know after the onset of the first monsoons.

The PWD which is better known as the Public Waste Department should also ensure that the tons of mud piled all over in the road widening works from Guirim to Pernem and from Bambolim to Margao does not pose a nightmare for the commuters once the fury of the ensuing monsoons sets in.

The Government of Goa and the PWD may live up to the phrase Haste makes Waste. However, the haste to inaugurate but not to complete the work, willfully endangering the lives of innocent motorists their comfort and their vehicles is an unacceptable waste.
